I am unable to update to Windows within the corporate environment. The same issue happens with Project running on Windows 7.

Many of the files were originally created in Project or are duplicates of files that were from the old version.

You are on an old version of Windows 10, I would try upgrading to the newer Microsoft project 2016 save as 2010 free 10 to see if it helps.
