However, strangely, same product was functioning inserting content center components on previous hardware system with same Windows 10 build so obviously updates had been applied after maintenance expired. Maybe because software download was from Autodesk account on that system but from desktop assistant on new system?

So in the end you are saying even though license is owned outright for the product, updates are not available if not on maintenance?
